The beginning of a story

Have you ever held your love as she breathed her last
breath, tears running down your face, salty on your lips?
The pain filling you to overflowing as you watch the light
fade from her eyes.

As bad as that is, it is far better than finding her cold,
lifeless body, missing her last breath, and the chance to
say goodbye forever.

I was too late.

That night I met him in my dream. He said he was me, but from
the future. He said his name was Thaedeus. He told me things
that later came true.

This is his story.
