Old but classic poem
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou thinkst thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow
And soonest our best men with thee do go
Rest of their bones and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppies or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke. Why swellst thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die!
My first experience singing with a band in front of a crowd I would have to say was singing at Desperado's in Middletown, Ohio. Thank you Bud Wilmont for being so cool to me. You see Bud was blind; the first thing he said was “IS SHE PRETTY”. It made me laugh but it made me worry a little because I was very insecure. He said it so loud that everyone in the room could hear him too. Everybody started laughing and said “oh yeah Bud she’s a pretty little thing.” I was so scared and nervous. So thank you Bud and if someone should ever read this to you, THANK YOU for letting me sing in your club, for believing in me and giving me a chance.
I moved on after that with my very first band EOS. Playing Alternative Rock with Dan Raridan on guitar, Gary McBride on bass, and Jimi Cotrell on drums. We plugged a lot of shows in the Dayton area, playing venues such as Canal Street Tavern, Bogarts, and the Inferno to name a few... Kicking butt. …You know how that goes… We took a break and just partied for awhile. After that I was ready again to hit the circuit and plugged some more shows with Jimi Cotrell still on the percussion section I then added added Ray Dom on guitar and keys, and Dale Phelps on the bass. We called ourselves Penny Moorhed. We played the Ohio Valley area and had a good time doing it, but for some reason I just felt I still wasn't doing what I wanted to be doing. So, here I am doing my own thing. Of course I wish all of the guys the best in all that they pursue but I had to go my own direction. We had different ways of conveying our work they were heavier and I had a much mellower sound going on in my head. They still kicked ass and we had many good times and wonderful shows under our belts.
Thanks again to Bud Wilmont. He gave me my first real opportunity and made one humble little girl feel like a star!!!
I'm just off the wall different and I don't worry too much what people think anymore. I use to but now...na...
Life is too short I'm strange because I'm me and different and I don't ever want to be like anone else but me.
Stuff I Like..(you can use this space for anything...widgets, video, pics)
My goal in life is to be a successful singer/songwriter and to devote myself to helping abused children and other abuse victims. Being a victim of sexual and physical abuse myself, I am haunted daily by these demons. It is my desire to do something to help those who aren’t in a position to help themselves. I hope to use my music somehow, someway in this world to make a real difference. My songs are about our Soldiers and Heroes, life's tragedies, abused, missing, and murdered children and other innocent victims. My songs are about life and the the scars that we sufffer and endure living this life.
Today all over the world there are children being molested, sold for sex and raped. It’s a sad thing to talk about, but it seems to always be swept under the carpet and ignored. If you know or even suspect that someone lives with these horrors, please report it, tell someone or reach out to them. You might even save a life.
My songs are also about HOPE and finding that hope inside of each and everyone of us. It just takes one person to make a difference.
